Purpose: The purpose of this webinar is to acquire the knowledge and skills to identify and address cultural diversity in hospice and palliative care and incorporate best practices in assessment and intervention. 

Objectives:

1. Review the theory on the role of culture in end-of-life care
2. Identify best practices in culturally competent assessment
3. Illustrate best practices through a case narrative
4. Practice death awareness activities
5. Identify best practices in culturally competent intervention

Why Do I Need to Know This?
Culture is recognized as an important domain in hospice and palliative care. Health disparities and culture can present barriers to informed decision-making and treatment in end-of-life care and working with different cultural groups falls to every member of the health care team. Social workers are trained in advocacy, cross-cultural communication, and patient-centered care, making this topic essential to their practice. 

Target Audience:  Social workers and healthcare coaches

Criteria for Successful Completion:

1. Attendance at entire session
2. Submission of completed evaluation form
3. Successful completion of a posttest (80% passing grade)
